NAVI MUMBAI: The Rabale MIDC police have registered a FIR of extortion against a NCP youth wing office bearer, his brother and six other aides for allegedly demanding Rs 50,000 extortion from the owner of a video game parlour in Digha.
The key accused has been identified as the NCP city youth wing president Annu Angre, his brother Rahul Angre and their aides Pravin Pujari, Mangesh Temkar, Roshan Naik, Suraj Patena and Paresh Bhoi.
Annu Angre is a history-sheeter, who has been previously booked under the provisions of Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (MPDA) and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), informed a police officer.
Sudhir Patil, senior inspector of Rabale MIDC police station said, “The incident had occurred on November 19. But, the FIR was registered against the accused on Monday after the complainant submitted the CCTV footage clips as evidence of assault on him by the accused. The accused are untraceable. In one CCTV footage, accused Annu Angre is also seen, while another CCTV clip shows his brother Kishore Angre assaulting the complainant.”
Complainant Pawan Melgade (25), a Nerul resident, who is a computer science engineer, runs a video games parlour in Mahalaxmi Apartment, Digha.
On November 19, when Melgade was at his shop, Kishore Angre and his six aides came to him and asked him to meet Annu Angre if he wanted to do business.
When Melgade refused to meet Annu Angre, Kishore slapped him and left after threatening him.
Melgade registered a non-cognizable offence against Kishore at Rabale MIDC police station.
Thereafter, when Melgade returned to his shop, Kishore along with six aides and around 50-60 men assembled outside his shop. Kishore threatened Melgade for lodging police complaint against him and demanded Rs 50,000 monthly extortion on behalf of Annu Angre.
Later, Paresh Bhoi called on Melgade’s mobile and issued him life threats, if he lodged a police complaint against Kishore and if he did not meet Annu Angre.
Hence, Melgade lodged a complaint with the zonal deputy commissioner of police and submitted a pen drive with CCTV clips as evidence of Kishore Angre assaulting him after allegedly demanding Rs 50,000 extortion.
Thereafter, on Monday, Melgade registered a FIR against the accused at Rabale MIDC police station.
