On November 19, Dainik Bhaskar shared 15 photos in a report on the recent flooding in Andhra Pradesh. The thumbnail of the article shows animals being swept away in the floodwater. (Archive link) The outlet also tweeted the report where this image was used as the featured photo.

It is worth noting that unseasonal rainfall has lashed various parts of Andhra Pradesh, with 17 dead and several missing.

One Twitter user replied to a tweet by ‘Hanuma Vihari Foundation’ claiming that the video shows Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. (Archive link)

Several other users also shared the clip as flood-hit Andhra Pradesh. (Link 1, Link 2)

Fact-check

Alt News had already fact-checked this video back in 2020 when it was being circulated as Kerala. We found in our investigation that the video is from Mexico.

A Facebook post dated July 28, 2020 stated that the video is from Nayarit, Mexico.

Compostela, Nayarit; México.

El río del Conchal entre Las Varas y Zacualpan en el municipio de Compostela, se desborda y arrastra todo a su paso, incluido el ganado, triste escena de la desgracia que se vive, para los agricultores y ganaderos.

Mexican news channel Imagen Television uploaded this video on its YouTube channel. The same clip was featured in an article by a Spanish portal named La Teja. As per the video description, the incident occurred in Nayarit’s Zacualpan.

A Mexican platform named Uno TV also covered the incident. In its report, it mentioned that cattle were being swept away in the Ei Kankal River. It also contained a tweet posted by Brazil’s Conexao GeoClima, which shared the same video from a different angle.

To sum it up, the video of cattle being swept away in a flood is from Mexico, not Andhra Pradesh. It was also circulated earlier as Kerala floods.
